The Company History

The original formula for Coca-Cola was invented by pharmacist John Pemberton in 1886. Originally, this beverage was intended to be a cure for headaches. It was available to buy in drugstores and promoted as a medicinal beverage.

Originally, the drink was not carbonated, and Pemberton had yet to come up with a name. His bookkeeper Frank M. Robinson is believed to have given the drink its name and created the distinctive logo. The name comes from the two original main ingredients, which were coca leaves and kola nuts. Just three years later, American businessman Asa Griggs Candler purchased the formula and brand for Coca-Cola.
