There are various levels of membership available with unique perks, including:

Gold Star Membership

This is the basic membership and costs $60 per year. With this level, you can shop at any store location worldwide, and you will receive exclusive member-only pricing on select items. You will also have access to their online store.

Gold Star Executive Membership

The most expensive membership costs $120 per year and includes all of the benefits of the Gold Star membership, plus a 2% annual reward (up to $1,000) on eligible Costco purchases.

Business Membership

This membership costs $60 per year and is available to business owners, employees of a business that has a Costco account, and anyone who owns a license, such as a liquor license. This membership allows you to purchase items for your business.

Can You Return Without A Receipt?

So, can you refund an item to Costco without a receipt? The simple answer is yes. According to their policy, members can return items “at any time” with or without a receipt. 

Are there any Exemptions?

There are, of course, a few exemptions to this rule. Electronics can only be returned within 90 days, and major appliances must be refunded within 180 days. Alcohol, tobacco, and Costco Cash Cards cannot be returned. Food items can only be taken back if they are defective or have expired.

How to return without a Receipt

The process to do so is remarkably simple; all you have to do is bring the item (and your membership card) to the customer service desk. They will look up your purchase in the system and process the refund for you. They will even give it back to you via your original method of payment. 

What about Gifts?

If you need to return a gift that was purchased at Costco, you can do so without a receipt. The same process applies; just bring the item (and the membership card of the person who purchased it) to customer service. They will look up the purchase and process the refund. 

If you do not have the membership card, you can still return the gift, but you will have to provide some additional information, such as the name and address of the purchaser.

If you made your purchase online, you can still take it back to a physical Costco warehouse. Just bring the item (and your membership card) to customer service, and they will process it for you. You can also return online Costco orders by mail, but you will have to pay for shipping.
