The transaction fees are taken at the same time as the transaction is being done. However, it is important to note that if you need to deposit more than $500 at your local Dollar General, then you will have to make two separate transactions. And each will incur its own set of fees.
The fee payment can be made in a few different ways. The first is that it is simply deducted from the amount you are putting onto your card. For example, you want to add $350 to your GreenDot card. As always, please keep your receipt. Depending on the type of card you have, the time of day, and how busy the system is, your cash might take a bit of time to arrive. It might arrive instantly; however, it also might take anywhere between 10 – 30 minutes. The receipt is proof of the transaction that includes the type of card, the date of the transaction, the amount of the transaction, and the store details (location, number, manager, etc.)
On the odd occasion that something goes wrong, you will need your receipt as proof when going through the process of getting your money returned. There might be an issue with a number of things, including but not limited to:
- A withdrawal
- A first-time load
- While reloading your card with either cash or another card

If you have the receipt, then it will make it that much easier to trace the transaction and see where your money has ended up.
