I don’t know about you, but I am one of those people that just live for icy cold drinks. It doesn’t matter if it’s a glass of ice-cold water first thing in the morning or an afternoon pick-me-up in the form of a sugar-free iced mocha almond milk latte.

I’m forever using ice and running out of it, so it’s always important to know where I can grab my next bag of ice conveniently. There are tons of places you can get ice from, which I’ll touch on later. However, recently, as I drove through McDonald’s for my morning sausage McMuffin and unsweetened iced tea, a question suddenly popped into my head…

Like a well-oiled machine, I had ordered, paid for, and received my breakfast order in under two minutes. I was already on my way home before even thinking to ask one of the employees who had kindly served me! So, I continued the drive pondering this very question. 

It’s well known that bags of ice can be purchased from a multitude of places like the local grocery store, convenience stores, and the gas station. But what about McDonald’s? And what about other fast-food restaurants?

As I got home, I googled and found out that the answer is yes, you can buy ice at Mcdonald’s! Since finding out, I tell everyone how convenient it is and now do it all the time! 

It is the unsung hero of BBQs and sporting events, and I now always grab some Macca’s snacks and a bag of ice on their way to softball tournaments. It’s convenient and cheap, so why not?

How Do I Purchase A Bag of Ice At McDonald’s?

Well, to be honest, it couldn’t be more simple. You just need to ask for it! 

Some McDonald’s staff may have never had this particular request before and could seem a bit confused by it. But not to worry, just ask to speak to a manager who will be more than happy to help out.

It’s been noted that you can walk in and buy from over the counter, along with your McChicken and chocolate shake. Plus, you can also order it while in the car, enjoying the ease of the Drive-Thru option.

How Much Is A Bag of Ice From McDonald’s?

Depending on your location and the sizes available, you can usually grab a bag from $0.99 up to $1.50, which is a super reasonable price! Especially if you were already headed there for a bite to eat, to begin with. 

It also saves you from another stop on the way home. The price is comparable to other stores like Burger King, where you’ll pick up a bag of ice starting at $1. Or Chick-Fil-A, where you’ll pick up a 5-pound bag for $2.00.

Absolutely, ice from McDonald’s is as good a quality as what you’ll pick up from any other store. According to McDonald’s “Your Right To Know” section on their website, many questions have been asked about the purity and origins of their ice. 

McDonald’s answers Abdullah’s question, “Are your ice cubes pure and clean?” with a really concise and informative answer. Touching on the “great lengths” they go to uphold the “strict standards” of hygiene and food safety. Plus, the daily sanitization process and monthly cleaning procedures.

Yes, it is. McDonald’s has restaurants spread all across America, and even when driving interstate, you shouldn’t have a problem. That is, of course, unless you are on a road trip into or around Vermont! 

Montpelier, the State Capital City of Vermont, is the ONLY one out of America’s 50 State Capitals that does not have one single McDonald’s restaurant in it.

Ice. It’s a wonderful thing. It keeps your drinks at the perfect temperature on these hot days we are experiencing. Keeps our food from spoiling and fresh for consumption. A few bags dumped in the bath is also super beneficial and aids in muscle recovery for sports enthusiasts. Not to mention super refreshing and fun for kids to play in as well!

So, if you are in need of some ice for a quick cooler fill up to keep your drinks and snacks cold on your road trip.
