I vividly remember the days of carrying around a giant wallet stuffed with different types of payment cards. It was always a hassle trying to find the right card, and I would often end up forgetting which one I needed for a certain purchase. Thankfully, those days are behind us now that mobile payments are mainstream.

This is yet another mobile payment platform that was launched in 2015. It uses magnetic secure transmission (MST) and NFC to work. MST is a technology that allows you to make payments by waving your phone near a credit card terminal. 

To use Samsung Pay, you must have a Samsung device with NFC and MST capabilities and the app installed. You can then just like Google Pay, add your credit or debit card to the app, and start making some purchases!

Does Sam’s Club Accept Google Pay & Samsung Pay?

As I mentioned, kind of… Sam’s Club does not accept Google Pay for any in-store purchases, but it does accept Samsung Pay to be used in-store. However, you cannot use Samsung Pay for online purchases. 

To get around the lack of Google Pay, you can use Instacart. Instacart is a service that will do your grocery shopping for you, and they accept Google Pay as a form of payment. So, if you are looking to use this platform at Sam’s Club, your best bet is to use Instacart. 

How to Pay with Samsung Pay instore

It is really simple to use this form of payment in-store. When you are all set and have found what you would like to purchase, open the Samsung Pay app on your phone. From there, select the card you would like to use and hold your phone close to the credit card terminal. 

You will then see a “Success” message and hear a confirmation sound. That is it! Your payment is complete.

What if I do not Have a Samsung or Google Device?

If you do not have either of these devices, no problem! You can still shop at Sam’s Club and use a different form of payment. They accept cash, credit cards, debit cards, and even checks. So, no matter what, you will be able to shop and pay how you want. 

Keeping Your Mobile Payments Secure

Many people are nervous about using mobile payment systems. After all, it is our money that we are talking about here. Luckily, these systems are generally very secure. 

Google Pay uses multiple layers of security to protect your information. When you add a card to the app, it is encrypted and stored on a secure server. Your actual credit or debit card number is never stored on your device or on Google’s servers. 

When you make a purchase, it uses a virtual account number to represent your actual card number. This way, your actual credit or debit card number is never shared with the merchant. 

Samsung pay uses tokens…

Samsung Pay is also a secure platform. When you add a card to this system, it is once again encrypted and stored on a secure server. So, just like Google Pay, your card numbers will never be stored on your mobile device or the server of Samsung. When you make a purchase, Samsung Pay uses a token to represent your actual card number, so again the merchant does not receive your card number.
