The soup portions at Subway vary as much as the flavors they offer! They can range anywhere from 227g for the Chicken Tortilla Soup to Creamy Chicken and Dumpling at 245g. 

While Black Bean, Loaded Potato and Bacon, Homestyle Chicken Noodle, and Brocolli Cheddar Soup all come in at the heaviest at 255g.

Is The Soup From Subway Nutritious?

As Subways sells a variety of soups, the nutritional value of each is unique to each different flavor. Take the Black Bean soup, for example. It equates to 210 calories in a 255g serving. With a macro split of 1 gram of fat, 12 grams of protein, 39 grams of carbs, and 15g of dietary fiber. It comes with a total value of 24 net carbs.

It’s also interesting to note the sodium content of this soup which is at a whopping 860 mg, which is 39% of your recommended daily intake.

Let’s compare the above with Subway’s Tomato Basil Soup. With a mere 130 calories for a 236g portion. It offers 6 grams of fat, 4g of protein, 15g of carbs, and just 2g of dietary fiber. The sodium content is lower with just 700 mg, but this still equals a massive 30% of your recommended daily intake. 

This soup contains 13 net carbs per serving.

Let’s throw in one final comparison…

According to Fatsecret, Subways Chili Con Carne Soup has the most calories at 340 calories from a 10 oz portion. The macros for this delicious soup are as follows. 11g of fat, 20g of protein, 35g of carbs, and 10 grams of dietary fiber. With a 28 net carb value. Sodium comes in at an incredible 950 mg which equates to 41% of your recommended daily salt intake. 

So when it comes to determining what you consider to be healthy, it’s important to look not only at the total calories but also at the macro split. Plus, the sodium content.

So yes, Subway soups are considered to be healthy and nutritious if you are careful about your salt intake for the rest of the day. Also, if you are following a keto lifestyle, then the net carb totals are really important to consider. 

Does Subway Offer Gluten-Free Soup?

Subway’s Black Bean Soup is gluten-free, as is their Brocolli Cheddar, Spicy Chicken Tortilla, Tomato Basil Soup, and Mediterranean Vegetable Soup.

This is great if you are a celiac or gluten intolerant. Meanwhile, you’ll be pleased to know there are also some Subway stores even offering gluten-free bread as well.

Unfortunately, this bread is not prepared and baked in-store; however, it’s handy to know it might be available to you. As always, check with the store you are ordering from if they have any of it available.

Subway soup is made fresh in its factories and then frozen before being shipped off to the locations that serve it. When it arrives in store, it is reheated in the soup Bain Marie, and water is added. It is then served throughout the day.
