Subway is an iconic brand that has been around since the sixties. A convenient on-the-go sandwich that is built to your specification. With plenty of tasty sauces and toppings to choose from. But does Subway take EBT?
Before I get to that, you might want to know… What exactly is EBT? And what are SNAP and RMP?
Let’s find out…

EBT
Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is a system used by state welfare departments to issue food benefits using a payment card. EBT allows people on SNAP and RMP to purchase food items using a modern and convenient card-based system. The monthly payment also goes into the EBT, and users can check their balance using the card.

SNAP
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which was formerly known as the food stamp program or “food stamps,” provides healthy food purchasing assistance to people or families with little or no financial income. It is a federal program run by the department of agriculture. These benefits can help people to stretch their food budget while also offering healthier dietary options.
RMP
The Restaurant Meals Program is a program that allows individuals on SNAP who are unable to prepare their own food to buy prepared meals at restaurants. They must be a certified SNAP member and be under the following circumstances:
- Have a disability.
- Be above 60 years old.
- Be Homeless.
- Collecting on behalf of a spouse or family member.

- Los Angeles
The State of Arizona is also part of the RMP and has over 61 Subway outlets.
EBT is accepted in Subway outlets found in the following cities:

The other states that operate RMP are:

Does Subway Take EBT? – Final Thoughts
The US state that you live in will determine if the EBT system at Subway is available. Only seven states are part of the RMP at the moment. If you do not live in these states, then you are out of luck.
Each State that is part of the RMP can choose how many of its restaurants they want to participate in the program. If you do live in one of these states, then I would recommend phoning in advance and checking with your nearest branch to make sure they have this facility. Alternatively, you can contact the RPM in your state for more information.
Enjoy your Subway Sandwich!
