How Does It Work?

Walmart Pay works through a QR code system. This style is a little different than the Android and iOS systems that work via Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology. NFC sends your payment details (i.e., your bank account details) to a payment register wirelessly when you complete a mobile wallet transaction with it. Whereas QR code transactions do not exchange banking information.

Not only does this allow its customers an extra level of security when it comes to making payments. But it is also compatible with older model smartphones, whereas NFC needs to operate on the most up-to-date versions.
