Future’s Net Worth

futures net worth

When I first heard Future’s new-age rap music style, I wasn’t quite sure what I was listening to. When something new, unique, and completely fresh hits you between the eyes, you are never sure if it’s a good or bad thing until you take stock, absorb this new thing, and look at it all from a different angle. Not only is he talented and innovative, but he is also richer than the majority of your favorite rappers.

Some of the net worth numbers of rappers, such as NBA Youngboy and Kodak Black, are great and all. But, Future’s net worth is on a completely different stratosphere. Not only does Future play hard and work hard, but he also spends even harder. Furthermore, he sometimes spends money like it’s going out of fashion.

He’s routinely called the hardest-working man in the record industry and one of the most influential hip-hop emcees of our time. Let’s find out more about Future the rapper’s wealth, and if his spending is a social media legend or myth or dead on accurate.

How Much is Future Worth?

The Atlanta, Georgia rapper Future has a net worth of around $62 million, although some sources state it’s even higher. Either way, that’s a massive number for a modern-day rap artist. Most newer rappers get caught in 360 record deals where they are essentially pimped by record companies who take the majority of their cash, publishing, and even the lion’s share of their live concert fees.

The net worth figure for the rapper Future makes him one of the richest rappers in the world. He made his fortune from a prolific selection of hit singles and albums throughout the 2010s that took the Rap Music industry and Pop charts by storm.

How Did Future Start Rapping?

Before I even start talking about his ridiculous spending habits and lavish luxury lifestyle, let’s take it back to basics. Future was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on 20 November 1983. His real name is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn.

Some say he perfected the mumble style of rapping, and others even credit Future for inventing it. But that’s not really true. However, he did help to bring mumble rapping to the mainstream and made a vast fortune while doing so. But it all started from humble beginnings.

Like most rappers…

Future came from an impoverished background and had to fight for everything he has today. While he was still in high school, he joined a rap collective called The Dungeon Family, and from there, he was given the rap moniker “Future” by his cousin.

The cousin in question is Rico Wade. A record producer who convinced the young Future to write raps and pursue this career for a living. He is actually credited as the mastermind behind Future’s sound and music style and is a true mentor.

Making mixtapes…

Like most rappers of today, Future started out making his own mixtapes. Back in the 1990s, it was almost impossible for rappers to promote their own mixtapes. Today, we have the internet that gives any artist a platform to get heard. But, back in the day, you were physically hawking your mixtapes on the streets and selling them from the back of your trunk.

By 2010, Future was hitting the mixtape game hard. In a single year, he released three different mixtapes called True Story1000, and Dirty Sprite

How Did Future Start Rapping

Around this time, Future had already begun working with Gucci Maine on a collaborative album called Free Bricks. His tracks started getting some play time from DJ Esco in famous local strip clubs like Magic City. At the time, it was a great launching pad for Atlanta rap talents. But things were about to change forever.

Getting Signed and Becoming a Recording Artist

Mixtape and Soundcloud rapping are all well and good. But, if you want to make it in the industry, you have to get a deal and get serious about recording singles and albums in the studio.

By September 2011, Future signed a major record deal with Epic Records. He was already beginning to get some press and industry reviews for his mixtapes. But not all of them were favorable. A large part of the music press didn’t understand Future’s Mumble Rap and auto-tune styles at the time.

After a couple more mixtape releases in 2011…

It was time to record Future’s debut studio album, Pluto. Originally, it was supposed to be released in April 2012. But, after some setbacks, it was finally launched in October. On the album was a remix of one of his popular earlier mixtape tracks, “Tony Montana”, but this time Drake was featured on the mix. He also remixed another earlier track, “Magic”, which now had T.I. making a cameo appearance.

“Magic” was Future’s first official single on Epic Records, and it was the first time Future made it onto the Hot 100 Billboard charts in the US, peaking in 69th position, excuse the pun. This was the first in a long line of singles that made the charts and catapulted Future to mainstream music stardom.

What Are Future’s Biggest Selling Hits?

Over the years, Future released a monumental amount of singles from his mixtapes and albums. It’s believed he has released 160 singles in total, with 12 Top-10 hits and two #1 singles on the Hot 100 Billboard Charts.

His two #1 hit singles are “Wait For U” (feat. Drake and Tems) in 2022 and the Drake track “Way 2 Sexy” in 2021 that featured Future and Young Thug. These two tracks sold 3 million and 1.3 million, respectively. Ironically, Future’s two biggest hits were both with Drake.

His other notable hits include “Life Is Good” (feat. Drake), which hit the second spot, “Puffin on Zootlez,” which peaked at #4, and “712PM” which made it to 8th position.

What Are Future’s Biggest Selling Albums?

Between 2012 and 2023, Future made nine studio albums. He is listed as selling over 8.3 million albums worldwide, with the majority of those sales being in the US. 100,000 copies of his albums have been sold in the United Kingdom, making the UK his second-largest fanbase.

Future’s largest-selling albums to date are DS2 (2 million units) in 2015, What A Time To Be Alive (1.19 million units) in 2015, Future (1.05 million units) in 2017, and High Off Life (1.05 million units) in 2020.

The last album he released was I Never Liked You in 2022. The rumor is that Future will be releasing his next album sometime in 2023. But, as of now, the title and release date are yet to be announced.

How Many Streams on Spotify Does Future Have?

Future’s net worth has been made from his prolific mixtape and album output over the past decade. But as a new-wave rapper, he also saw the importance of online and digital downloads.

Over the years, Future has amassed 2.1 billion streams on Spotify. By this rationale, the streams would have netted a total of around $1.67 million in royalties. Future’s share of the royalties with the record companies is anyone’s guess. He also gets around 51 million monthly listeners. Here are Future’s Top 10 most streamed tracks on Spotify.

How Much Does He Make from Touring?

Touring and playing live shows can make up a massive part of a rapper’s earning potential. It’s been stated that Future charges anywhere between half a million dollars and $750,000 per show. Some even go as far as to suggest that, in some cases, he charges a cool million dollars per show. Either way, it’s a lot of cash.

Future’s live tour between September 2017 and September 2018 is said to have generated around $30 million from ticket sales alone. A few news networks have stated that Future made around $23 million from touring and his streams in 2016.

What are Future’s Spending Habits?

Future’s estimated net worth is over $60 million, so it only makes sense that he splashes the cash and enjoys himself. Considering his background, it’s only right to treat himself to the finer things in life. Future is said to blow ridiculous amounts of money when on a spending binge.

He is known to not stop spending once he starts on a buying bender. Once, he spent $40k on sneakers and clothes in a single shopping session. Also, he once claimed that he has brought his 9-year-old daughter at least 20 sets of Channel shoes.

Legendary Car Collection

Future has a legendary collection of cars that are too many to list here. He owns a Lamborghini Aventador and a Bentley Bentayga. Apparently, he also has a bunch of other classic Lamborghini models, a bunch of Rolls Royce cars, and three other Bentley models.

His most popular cars include a 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, a Rolls Royce Ghost that cost $340,000, a Bentley Continental GT, and a Bentley Flying Spur.

Future’s 16 Million Dollar Home

Future’s largest financial outlay was a $16.4 million Miami island waterfront mansion. He brought the property in 2022. The home is located on an exclusive island in Miami’s prestigious North Beach area. The 8,897 square foot mansion has eight bedrooms and comes equipped with glass walls that give it a very modern and contemporary flavor.

The stunning sea and bay views are supposedly earth-shattering. But, for that price, so they should be. The house was valued at over $19 million. So, in the grand scheme of things, he got a great deal.

Final Thoughts

Because Future helped pioneer Mumble Rap, he was at the forefront of its creation and growth. However, the Mumble Rap fad seems to be waning as most trends do. Fortunately for the rapper, he can diversify his flows and change up his styles, so he should be okay. But, as he gets closer to 40 years old, how many more singles and albums can he make? Probably not that many, in all honesty.

But let’s not cry any tears for the rapper…

His net worth is astoundingly high. He’s not going to go broke any time soon. He is one of the richest rappers of his generation and one of the most innovative. When this generation’s cheesy mumble rappers fade into obscurity, Future’s name will still be remembered. He will retain respect, and his legacy, and shed loads of cash. So, even if Future is the past, it could be worse.

Until next time, may you always find your success.
