Honeywell states on their home page: “We believe what happens tomorrow is determined by what we do today.” Through various sources, the mission statement changes somewhat; however, considering the vastness of the company’s endeavors, this one line seems to encompass them all. It also seems to define the overall statement the best.

What we know today as Honeywell was founded in 1885 but under a different name. Back then, the Minneapolis company was called Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co. The company was sold and renamed a few times. First renamed to Electric Heat Regulator Co. In 1906, Honeywell Heating Specialty Co. Incorporated was formed by Mark Honeywell, an engineer who specialized in plumbing and water heating devices. Honeywell decided to merge with Heat Regulator Co., and they were named Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Co. in 1927.
The bones of the company are old but extremely innovative from the start. The inventor, Albert Butz, patented the alarm and the furnace regulator. What we know today as a “thermostat” was created and known as a “damper flapper.” By 1916, the first electric motor was patented.
It all came together…
Once the amalgamation of the various companies occurred, Honeywell became the largest producer of high-quality jeweled clocks. W.R. Sweatt was appointed the chairman, with Mark Honeywell himself as the president of the company. And in 1969, thousands of Honeywell parts were used in the making of stabilization and control systems for the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
In 1999, Honeywell was sold to AlliedSignal, as Honeywell became a brand that was coveted by many. In this acquisition, the Minneapolis company headquarters was moved to Morristown, New Jersey. The newly merged companies continued their never-ending quest for innovation.
For the next 20 years, Honeywell would buy natural gas, oil, chemical, and tech companies. In 2019, the company made another move and relocated its headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Honeywell strives to create fuel-efficient aircraft with safety in mind, in the air and on the ground. They are found on most aircraft in any industry imaginable.
The company has maximized energy efficiency and innovation in more than 10 million buildings for more than 100 years and is still keeping up by developing new tech.
Automating industrial facilities
They produce high-quality and performance chemicals and materials in complex factories.
Health and safety
They proudly keep more than half a million workers safe with various technology-driven equipment.
Honeywell heavily encourages employees to engage in philanthropic activities and take their social responsibility seriously. This means that they are actively plowing funds and resources back into their communities.
A huge part of their scope is to promote sustainability and thus continuously increase the efficiency of their offered goods and services.
The company runs on an extremely high level of integrity and promises that no corners will be cut for the sake of productivity. Along with this standard comes inclusion and diversity, to employ staff that will offer unique perspectives.
The fact that Honeywell spots and acquires companies that are moving forward rapidly is demonstrated in each of the aforementioned areas. Staying in the past in any area, albeit socially or technologically, is not an option at all.

All Honeywell employees are expected to certify their compliance in line with the company “Code of Business Conduct” and are expected to declare if there are any obstacles. “We will walk away from business rather than do business the wrong way.”

The company views its goals of inclusion and diversity as a win-win situation. “It’s the right thing to do and because it is a fundamental enabler for our business.” It is the driver of the quality and innovation that pushes the company to new heights.
“We enforce a zero-tolerance policy against any form of harassment or discrimination, and our zero-tolerance policy prohibits racism by name.” This statement speaks for itself.
The company slogan is known as “The future is what we make it,” but another phrase, “We are Honeywell. The power of connected.” Is often used as a tagline in advertising as well.

As mentioned, the reports of their mission statement vary, but all elude to the same conclusion as mentioned on their website, which seems to have been updated recently. It is, however, unclear how long that particular phrase has been on the home page.
