– For AC 3 Tier/AC Chair Car/AC 3 Economy, the permissible free allowance is 40 kg for full fare adult/child and 20 kg for half fare child. Beyond this limit, the charges are Rs. 10 per kg.

– For Sleeper Class, the permissible free allowance is 40 kg for full fare adult/child and 20 kg for half fare child. Any excess luggage will be charged at the rate of Rs. 10 per kg.

– For Second Class, the permissible free allowance is 35 kg for full fare adult/child and 15 kg for half fare child. Excess luggage will be charged at Rs. 10 per kg.

– For luggage in the brake van, the charge is Rs. 30 per luggage up to a distance of 100 km and Rs. 60 per luggage beyond 100 km.

2. Are there any restrictions on the size of the luggage?

Yes, there are certain size restrictions for luggage in Indian Railways. The maximum size of the luggage that can be carried in the AC and Sleeper classes should not exceed 100 cm x 60 cm x 25 cm (length x breadth x height). For other classes, the size limit is 100 cm x 60 cm x 25 cm (length x breadth x height).
