Kodak Black Net Worth

kodak black net worth

I remember when Florida Rap Music revolved around the filthy exploits of the 2 Live Crew. Boy, have times changed? Thank goodness the likes of XXXTENTACION, Flo Rida, and Kodak Black have brought some much-needed respect to the Florida Rap scene over the past several years. If you are unfamiliar with Kodak Black, you’ve been missing out.

Although he might not be the biggest commercial rapper of modern times, the Kodak Black net worth figure is still very respectable. True, rappers find it harder these days to make big bucks from record companies, But if you focus on your fanbase, you can make a fantastic living as an emcee in the world of digital media streaming and downloads.

So, let’s find out more about Kodak Black’s money game and if his wealth matches his talent and reputation.

Is Kodak Black Wealthy?

Kodak Black’s net worth currently stands at around $2 million. However, some claim he is worth up to $10 million or more. Although, there is very little evidence to prove either way. Most people assume that their favorite rappers are loaded and have tens of millions in the bank. However, the reality doesn’t usually match the fantasy and image.

Instagram lifestyles are more fraudulent than Bill Gates trying the save Planet Earth by carbon taxing everyone. Black is not your average rapper that flexes his wealth. According to his net worth number, it’s probably because he doesn’t have the cash to flex too much. Although, there are some discrepancies on how much money Kodak Black makes and has in the bank.

How Did Kodak Black Start Rapping?

Kodak Black, real name Dieuson Octave, was born on 11 June 1997 in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was born to Haitian immigrant parents and grew up in a housing project. By the time he was 12 years old, he’d already started rapping and was even recording music at a local Trap house.

He was a mischievous and unruly kid. And he was even expelled from school for fighting and car theft. The truth is, the only ways out of the projects were being a sports star, a rapper, or becoming a drug dealer and saving up some money to escape.

Around 2009, he joined a rap group called Brutal Youngnz. Bear in mind he was only 12, so he started very young. After bouncing around and joining other groups and cliques, Kodak Black made his first mixtape in 2013 called Project Baby. Then, he followed it up with two more, Heart of the Projects in 2014 and Institution in 2015.

A helping hand from Drake…

Unfortunately, older rappers are often dismissive toward younger cats. That attitude can hinder the progress of talented young rappers. Thank goodness there are some decent older heads out there.

How Did Kodak Black Start Rapping

In 2015, Drake gave Black a push in the right direction by posting a video of himself dancing to Kodak’s songs. Although this gave him some much-needed exposure in the mainstream, other rappers like Earl Sweatshirt strangely didn’t like Drake putting some shine on Black.

The Kodak Black song that Drake was videoed dancing to was “SKRT.” From that, he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. This deal gave Black the chance to create his first studio album, Painting Pictures, in 2017. More on that later.

What is Kodak Black’s Breakout Hit?

Sometimes you just need one song to spring you to prominence. Other times, it’s a culmination of years of hard work. For Kodak Black, it was a combination of Drake’s video and the launch of the single “No Flockin.” This was released in 2015 and helped to give Black his first taste of commercial success.

“No Flockin” is Kodak Black’s breakout hit. It introduced him to a mainstream audience for the first time. Even though the track had been out for a while, it wasn’t until January 2017 that it reached its final peak position of #95 on the Hot 100 Billboard Charts.

What is Kodak Black’s Breakout Hit

It might not have been a massive hit in the grand scheme of things. But it gave him access to a new market and fanbase. The irony is that Black doesn’t even like the song anymore and is quoted as saying that in numerous interviews. At the time of writing, “No Flockin” by Kodak Black is certified double-platinum by the RIAA.

What Are Kodak Black’s Biggest Hits?

From 2015 up until May 2023, Kodak Black released 36 singles that charted in the Hot 100 US Billboard charts. Kodak Black’s biggest-selling single to date is “ZEZE.” That track featured famous rap artists Travis Scott and Offset. The single peaked at #2 on the charts and is his highest-charting song to date.

Black has enjoyed a few Top 10 hits on the Billboard charts as well. They include “Tunnel Vision,” which peaked at #6 in 2017, “Silent Hill,” with Kendrick Lamar, made #7 in 2022, and “Super Gremlin,” which reached #3 also in 2022. He’s had a few more singles that just missed out on the Top 10. But, in all honesty, he’s had multiple hits that helped boost the Kodak Black net worth number over the years.

Top-10 Kodak Black Spotify Streams

The record industry has massively changed over the years. It had to, or it would have been swallowed up by digital download piracy. Physical copies of records and CDs have been bottoming out since the mid-2000s. Streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music are changing the way consumers buy, listen, and stream songs.

Kodak Black has almost 24 million monthly Spotify listeners, making him one of the highest-streamed modern rappers. Here is a list of Kodak Black’s top 10 most streamed songs on Spotify.

How Many Albums Did Kodak Black Sell?

Although there is some money in selling singles and stream downloads, it’s album sales and touring that make rappers the most money in the modern-day music industry. From 2017 up until 2022, Kodak Black has released four studio albums. These albums are Painting Pictures (2017), Dying to Live (2018), Bill Israel (2020), and Back for Everything (2022).

Before I talk about the sales for his studio albums, it’s important to mention that his Project Baby 2 mixtape in 2017 sold over one million copies. Kodak Black has sold over three million albums collectively. His largest-selling studio album to date is Painting Pictures which sold over a million and is certified Platinum in the US. Dying to Live and his Project Baby 2 mixtape are also certified Platinum.

How Much Does Kodak Black Charge Per Show?

Some of the details on how much Kodak Black charges per show in 2023 are sketchy. But, by all reports, the amount is between $150,000 to $300,000 per show, making him one of the highest-paid rappers in the world per concert.

There’s been a couple of times where Black has admitted he charges $300K per show, so it’s hardly a secret. His public appearances and podcast interview fees are largely unknown. But they will be massively less than the price he charges to perform a show.

How Much Does He Make Per Year?

There are lots of conflicting reports on the internet and from various sources about Kodak Black’s yearly earnings. However, most of these do not add up in the grand scheme of things. Some sources say that he makes around $3 million per year via touring, record sales, merch sales, steams, and YouTube videos. But, since his net worth is currently reported at $2 million, it doesn’t make any sense logically or mathematically.

This is why so many people report that his net worth is closer to $12m than $2m…

Kodak Black currently has 8.4 million YouTube subscribers, with an average of 55 million views monthly. He has a heavy presence on Spotify and makes good money via his shows, so in all honesty, Kodak Black’s personal fortune must be double-digit millions.

By his YouTube viewing numbers alone, it’s safe to say his videos generate in the region of $100k to $200k per month in ad revenues alone. But it’s anyone’s guess what cut he receives for the videos.

What are Kodak Black’s Spending Habits?

Kodak Black might not have the same spending budget as Dr. Dre or even Kendrick Lamar, but he does still own some very valuable assets and luxury items. The information is rather limited on if he owns a house, but he did buy one for his mother.

In 2022, Kodak Black reportedly purchased his mother a $3 million Florida home as a thank-you for supporting and believing in him. That’s one million more than Kodak Black’s entire net worth, so that’s another red flag on how much money Kodak Black has.

Any luxury purchases?

Although Black might not be the biggest flexer on social media, he does own some luxury cars. He apparently owns a fire-orange Mercedes-Maybach, as well as some classic cars that include a Lamborghini Urus, a custom-made Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and a customized 1930 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

But, in the grand scheme of things, he doesn’t own anything too extravagant and doesn’t have the surplus cash for a Bugatti. What he lacks in luxury car purchases, he makes up for with his expansive jewelry collection.

What are Kodak Black’s Spending Habits

He is a massive jewelry freak…

Kodak is known to splash the cash on many custom-made items. He has several chains that are said to cost around $200k each. Kodak is also a massive watch fanatic and currently owns exclusive models from Richard Mille, Hublot, and Rolex.

Two of his favorite luxury items are a diamond-encrusted white gold grille and a 24k gold grille that he sometimes wears. The diamond grill was a gift to himself for the success of one of his earlier mixtapes.

Pardoned by Donald Trump

Before I finish, I wanted to tell you about one of the most unique things that ever happened to Kodak Black. Or, for that matter, any other rapper that came before him. I don’t usually like to get on the gossip merry-go-round when it comes to the real-life controversy of rappers, but it’s hard to ignore it where Black is concerned.

In June 2020, Kodak Black was looking at serving some real jail time and was even sentenced to four years in prison on Federal weapons charges. Black was in deep doo-doo in 2019 for providing a firearms dealer with false information when he was trying to buy a gun. He was going to do time, and there was seemingly no way around it until an unexpected hero came to his savior.

The then-President of the United States of America, the orange-man himself, Donald Trump, pardoned Kodak Black right at the end of his term in early 2021. Black escaped prison time by the skin of his teeth and can consider himself very fortunate.

Final Thoughts

I highly doubt that Kodak Black’s net worth is only $2m. It only seems right that Kodak Black’s wealth is closer to $10 million and probably more than that. He apparently charges up to $300k per show. So, his net worth must be higher than reported. His recording career might have started when he was just 12 years old, but it wasn’t until 2017 that he released his first studio album.

His last album came out in 2022. But rumors abound that he is currently in the studio making his fifth album. It’s expected to be released very soon. Kodak Black might have only had a few Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 Billboard charts and very limited global success. But he’s doing well for himself, and his recording career is still in full swing.

Until next time, may success find you.
