The Shein Return Policy
The company’s policy is fairly straightforward and is published in full on the official website. However, there are certain terms and conditions that you have to meet in order to qualify that might take you a while to sift through. And if you don’t meet the terms and conditions, you won’t be eligible for a refund or exchange.
The items you send back need to be in like-new condition so that they can be resold. They must not have been worn or damaged in any way, and all the tags must still be attached.
Therefore, if you wear and wash any clothing purchased from the company, you will not qualify for a refund or exchange. Moreover, any provided hygiene stickers must still be in place and must not have been removed and put back on. So, you must remember not to wash clothing before trying it on.
You also need to make sure that the items you ship back are in their original packaging. Although you can open the packaging to try on clothing, the packaging itself must be intact. So, if you accidentally tear the box that the products come in, you will not be eligible for a refund or exchange.
The time limit
You are given 35 days to try on clothing and decide if it meets your needs. And this window starts from the purchase date. So, even if the product takes a week to reach you, the 35-day period starts from the moment of purchase.
After the 35 days have passed, you won’t usually qualify for a refund or exchange. However, you may be able to make a claim if you have a reason other than you just don’t like it. To make a claim after that period has passed, you need to contact the customer service team.
Because the company exclusively sells products online, you don’t need to produce the original receipt. Your order will be tracked and confirmed online. Therefore, proving purchases and returning unwanted items is relatively straightforward.
You are treated to free shipping the first time you send back an unwanted item to the Shein. However, you will be charged a fee for every additional time you take advantage of the policy. The fee for all additional returns is $7.99, and this amount will be deducted from your refund total.
How to Send Back Unwanted Clothes to Shein?
The quickest and easiest way to send back unwanted products is by using the self-help return method. Because if you choose this option, you do not need an order number. Alternatively, you can choose direct contact with the customer care team. In this case, you will need to provide the order number when making a claim and may need to provide additional information.
How does the self-help option work?
To start the self-help process, you need to sign into your online account. Find the ‘My orders’ section and tap or click on the Return Item button. This will be highlighted in red next to all your old orders that qualify under the terms and conditions.
Next, select the item you want to send back and choose a reason for returning it. You will see a dropdown menu featuring a list of potential reasons. After choosing the most appropriate reason, you need to click or tap on the Submit button.
It’s now time to start packing up the unwanted item. A reminder, make sure you use the original packaging and that the packaging is intact. If you have lost this packaging or it’s torn, rather get in contact with the customer service team.
You need to attach a free return label to the front of the package. This label includes the return address and states that shipping is free of charge. Also, make sure the label is securely attached so that it cannot fall off during shipping.
Now, choose your preferred mailing method. You can either send the package yourself or use the specified pickup service. If you choose this pickup service, a carrier will get in contact with you and arrange a suitable collection time.
If you prefer to send the package yourself…
You need to take it to your nearest courier service. The parcel will then be sent to the Shein center return address. Finally, make sure you hold onto the shipping receipt in case you need to prove that you sent the parcel.
All that’s left to do now is wait to receive your refund. The return status next to the product in your account will be updated as soon as the product is received. Then the refunding process will then be initiated, and you will have your refund soon.
How to Find the Shein Return Label?
As mentioned, you always need to attach a return shipping label to the outside of your package before shipping it. You can download and print this label from the company’s website.
Fortunately, this process is fairly quick and easy…
Navigate to the My Order section of your account and click on Order Details. You then need to click on the Return and Refund icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. All you need to do now is click on View to download and print the label.
When Exactly You Will Receive Your Refund?
It typically takes up to seven business days to process items that are shipped back to Shein. This starts from the day your returned item is received. Therefore, you could find that you have to wait up to two weeks to get your money back.
However, the company makes every effort to process claims and issue refunds as quickly as possible. This is designed to minimize inconvenience and help secure customer loyalty. Furthermore, some banks can actually make the process slower, which is why the timeline can vary.
Free Gifts and Exclusions at Shein
Shein often offers free gifts to entice customers. These include accessories like scarves, which can complement your new outfit. However, it should be noted that these free gifts cannot be returned for an exchange or store credit.
And while most products that the company sells are covered by the return policy, there are a few exclusions. As stated, products must be in a new and unwashed condition in order to qualify under the terms and conditions. And cosmetics cannot be returned if the hygiene seal has been broken.
Other types of excluded items include:
- Beauty products
- Party supplies
- DIY supplies
- Pet products
- Products marked as non-returnable
By now, you should understand the Shein return policy, but have you…

Ok, back to today’s fashion store return policy query…
Shein offers a fairly generous and comprehensive return policy. Firstly, this online retailer generally provides 35 days to send back unwanted items from the date of purchase. Plus, sending back unwanted products and receiving a refund or exchange is a fairly simple process.
However, it should be noted that you will be responsible for paying the return shipping fee if it’s not your first time returning something. In addition, certain products are excluded, and you will not be able to receive an exchange or refund. So, it’s important to read the terms and conditions carefully to make sure you qualify before attempting to make a claim.
Happy Shein shopping!
