Starbucks rewards program is a scheme that allows you to collect points or ‘stars’ with your purchases. - Download the app here for both Android and iPhone or here for the website.
- You’ll be required to fill out some basic information, including your name, email, and password.
- Load some money onto your virtual Starbucks card.
- Make a purchase in Starbucks and start earning stars.
Always Add Your Birthday Details!
You’ll be prompted to add your birthdate, just the day and month (not the year)! Then, if you have been a Starbucks Rewards Member for at least seven days, plus you have made a one-star qualifying purchase on your account, you will be sent a free birthday reward on your special day! It’s usually to the value of 150 stars, which enables you to get a great reward!
You can choose from a Starbucks handcrafted drink of any size, with two free customizations, a food item, or a pre-packaged bottle drink. Alcoholic drinks are excluded. So if you are redeeming your birthday brew or star rewards in a store that sells alcoholic beverages, I’m afraid they won’t be available as a freebie option.
How Do I Load Money Onto My Virtual Rewards Card?
There are several ways to load money onto your account; these include:
- Link an existing credit or debit card.
- Top up via the app.
- Manually add funds at any Starbucks location.
- Add a Starbucks gift card or Starbucks eCard with the 16-digit card number and security code.
What Merchandise Can I Get With 400 Stars at Starbucks?
Wow, you’ve reached 400 Starbucks stars; firstly, congratulations! You’ve reached the top tier for rewards! This level entitles you to take home some Starbucks merchandise to the value of $20. It could be anything from a bag of Starbucks coffee beans to a signature cup or mug.
Or, you can choose from other items like tea and coffee brewing equipment, music, a book, or a even box of Verismo coffee pods!

If you’ve decided to get get a signature tumbler AND a box of coffee pods, plus a delicious beverage, and it exceeds to 400-star rewards limit, do not fear! You can simply pay to make up the difference.
For example, the above three items equal $28.79, and your reward allows for $20. You can scan your virtual card for the 400 stars and $20 value deduction. Then the remaining $8.79 will be deducted from the existing balance on your card. Or from the payment system you have linked to your account. It’s that easy!
Earn Double Stars On Each Transaction
You will earn 1 star for every $1 you spend if you pay cash or if you have a debit or credit card linking to your account. However, top up your virtual Starbucks Rewards card and use this to pay for your purchases, and you will enjoy earning two stars for every $1 spent!
What Items Do Not Earn Stars?
Most items earn stars; however, there are a few exceptions. These include alcoholic beverages, topping up transactions, tips, and fees.

Bring Your Reusable Cup
A really great way to earn bonus stars is to bring your reusable cup every time you order your favorite beverage. Starbucks Rewards members can earn up to 25 bonus stars per transaction.
Plus, you can enjoy the bonus of a 10-cent discount on the cost of your drink at participating locations! If that’s not enough of an incentive, think about all the extra packaging you’ll be saving from landfill each time you enjoy your favorite Starbucks drink.

Special Rewards Stickers
You can look for special bags of Starbucks coffee to earn extra points. They have a sticker on the front reading “My Starbucks Rewards, Earn A Star.” You might find these at supermarkets, amazon retailers, specialty shops, and Starbucks stores. You can usually redeem between 1 – 10 free stars.
