However, you may find that the items that looked so good in the store don’t quite meet your needs. When this happens, you are sure to want to get your money back or exchange the item.
So, let’s take a closer look at the return policy at Meijer and find out how to make a claim.
About the Meijer Return Policy
The company operates under a fairly clear and simple return, refund, and exchange policy. Most products that the company sells are classified as General Merchandise. Returning these products for a refund or exchange is fairly quick and easy.
You have ninety days from the date of purchase to return General Merchandise Meijer items. You can do this for items bought in one of the company’s stores or through the official website. The item will be inspected, and you can receive a refund or an exchange if it is eligible.
Exclusions and Restrictions
Once ninety days from the date of purchase have passed, you will not be eligible for an exchange or refund. When it comes to products like air beds and tents, they must be returned in their original, unopened packaging. There are additional restrictions on products that are powered by gas or flammable liquids. This includes a processing fee of $25 before you receive a refund.
There are also some Meijer products that cannot be returned for an exchange or refund. So, it is important to read the terms and conditions to see if items are covered before making a purchase. If the product is excluded, you will not be able to get your money back after purchase.

Electronics that have storage capabilities have to be returned in an unused and unopened state. This category includes memory cards, cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, game systems, and computers. If these items are opened or defective when they are returned, an exchange for an identical product will be offered. In this case, it will not usually be possible to claim a refund.
Video games and related electronic media, such as CDs and DVDs, must be returned within ninety days. In order to receive a full refund, these items must be in their original, unopened packaging. If the packaging has been opened, an exchange will be offered instead of a refund.
A dissatisfaction guarantee covers most types of grocery products that Meijer sells. Therefore, it is possible to receive a full refund if you are not happy with consumable food products for any reason. You can still apply for a full refund even if you have lost the original receipt.
However, you won’t be able to get a refund if you purchased state-approved WIC items. Instead, you will be offered an exchange for an identical item. You must provide a receipt to prove that the item wasn’t purchased with a WIC transaction.
Returning unused, unwanted, or expired medications can be done at your local store. However, you must make sure that the prescription package is unopened in order to receive a refund. Your refund will then be processed as part of the Drug Take-back program.
Like most products, air mattresses are covered by the ninety-day return policy. However, you will only receive a refund if the product is unused and unopened. If you have already tried out the product, you will be offered an exchange instead.
Returning Unwanted Items

If you want to visit your local store, head on over to the customer service desk. The unwanted item will be carefully inspected before a decision is made. If your item is rejected, you may have more luck by asking to speak to the store manager. However, the store manager’s decision is final, and it is advisable to remain polite at all times.
Returning Online Purchases
Alternatively, you can ship unwanted products back to Meijer. Online purchases are covered by the same ninety-day warranty, and the same terms and conditions apply. Shipping products to receive a refund could be more convenient if you don’t live close to a store.
To get started…
Head to the company’s website and log into your account. Find the Order Details section and select the item that you want to ship back. You can then follow the instructions to obtain a Return Authorization Number and a Return Label.
Make sure you read the instructions carefully and follow them to the letter. For most eligible items, you can ship them back using FedEx or an authorized FedEx Ship Center. However, items that were delivered by a carrier need to be shipped back in a specific way.
If the unwanted item was shipped by a carrier, you need to locate your shipping confirmation email and packing slip. This will provide you with the required order number and receipt number. These details will be used to confirm your purchase and will make the process easier.
Meijer items that are delivered using LTL have to be returned by Special Pickup. This includes To Home, In-Room, and White Glove items. You’ll need to call the customer service team to schedule a collection of these items.
You will not have to pay the shipping costs when returning items with FedEx. However, there is a shipping fee for LTL shipments. It is important to note that the shipping costs are non-refundable, and you should confirm the fee in advance.
When Refunds are Processed?
Once your request for a refund has been approved, you will receive the cash within fourteen business days. The refund will be credited using the original payment method, such as your gift card or credit card. You will receive a confirmation email once the refund has been made.
